If I ask to leave Will the Wiz even hear me? How will I know then If I'll ever get home again? Here I am alone Though it feels the same I don't know where I'm going I'm here on my own And it's not a game And a strange wind is blowing I'm so amazed At the things that I see here Don't want to be afraid I just don't want to be afraid I just don't want to be here In my mind this is clear What am I doing here? This is the real world Gotta do what you must, girl Well Can I? Can I? Is this what feeling gets? So is there a happy ending? There's nothing here but the fear of Will I try? Living here, in this brand new world Might be a fantasy But it taught me to love So it's real, real to me And I've learned That we must look inside our hearts To find a world full of love Like yours Like me Like home... THE END Music Adapted & Supervised by QUINCY JONES Songs by CHARLIE SMALLS Judy Garland's classic film THE WIZARD OF OZ is the basis for this musical. After a hurricane hit her hometown in Kansas, Dorothy and her dog Toto find themselves in an unsual place called Oz. To go back home, she must seek the help of the Wizard. She meets characters also seeking the help of the Wizard like the Scarecrow, who wishes for a brain; the Tinman, who wishes for a heart; and the Lion, who seeks courage. Together, they follow the yellow-brick road to Emerald City to see the Wizard. However, you won't hear "Somewher Over The Rainbow" here because... well, the film composer has nothing to do with this musical. Memorable songs include HOME by Dorothy, EASE ON DOWN THE ROAD by Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman and the Lion and the reprise of BELIEVE IN YOURSELF by the good witch Glinda.
